Footprints in the sand written by Mary Stevenson, I believe can be seen in the context that once realized we will rely on Jesus by faith placing His will over ours allowing Him to carry us through times of tribulation. In our human nature to our belief; it is as if we were carried through those times, in an act of being forsaken, for we only seen one set of prints in the sand. Even though Jesus has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” many times in the bible.
It is said three of the verses Mary’s thoughts came from are, Deuteronomy 31:6, 8 and Joshua 1:5. Another verse suggested comes from Psalms 23:4 which say ” Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Meaning that even in the darkest times He is with you. The last verse that comes to mind that is used is Isaiah 63:9, “In all their suffering he also suffered, and he personally rescued them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them. He lifted them up and carried them through all the years.”
There is a time in the sand were we as Christians refer to one set of footprints. This to me has always been a vision of placing your life in the Fathers hands. I had never really understood the poem or seen the meaning as Christ possibly forsaking His (us). In context, it is quite the opposite. As events develop in this world towards the end will all this be an illusion to most of us, or will we realize the times in which we live. I say this in thought that many Christians walk in vain practice and in vain teachings. It’s as though the body of Christ, those seen, the Church congregations, have no power. It is apparent that most our life there are usually two sets of prints in the sand. So will we understand the coming of the end and allow Jesus to carry us through?
As Jesus said He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
We enter a new age; we are the last of a chosen generation, the last, of whom there will remain a remnant. We are Christians in a post Christian age; we will be consumed by the fire and refined like unto gold so that we will be as white raiment. The enemy is breaking through, as we have allowed them by our actions (impotence), our lack of understanding, and lack of commitment to CHRIST. We have seen His Sacrifice but bring no offering of our own before our God. We as a nation are at a crossroad, we are at a time for decision, the same I might say we as a Christian are at. Repent and turn from you iniquity is The Call of The Lord. I pray we be aware of the day and prepare accordingly to break the enemy’s strongholds and overcome until the end.
Repent and turn from our sin and this world. This is Jesus’ message; for many shall parish but to those that endure unto the end shall have ever lasting life.
We must take on the lambs’ blood and be a living sacrifice these last days, becoming a chosen generation, a priesthood unto our Lord. We are the last to be the first, we are to prepare the way for the bridegroom. Do we not pray, Do we not sing. For The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
I bring you in this enlightenment, the Watchman’s work. The work of The Lord through those that are His, those walking by faith to edify the Body in CHRIST JESUS.
The wicked think their day is almost here! God Bless Nikos,
